Hi there! I’m Sarah 🙂 a Registered Nurse with a passion for empowering you to make choices for your health that will not only be beneficial in the short-term, but will be practical and sustainable in the long-run.
As an RN in a large hospital, I have a first-hand look at the stability and sustainability of our current health care system in the U.S. Unfortunately, I see a lot of patients wind up in a vicious cycle of having band aids put on deep wounds (so to speak) and never being able to get to the bottom of their health concerns.
It’s my passion and my mission to help people find a balance between our modern medicine world, and alternative beneficial methods of wellness. My purpose through this site is to provide practical ways to help you actually live a life full of health and wellness!
So, what am I keeping it real about?
Like I mentioned above, as a nurse, I’m seeing first hand the unsustainable nature of our current health care system. I see physicians & health care workers frustrated and swamped in paperwork and bureaucracy while their patients are suffering. I see patients who are relying on those same physicians to provide some kind of tangible solution to help them feel better, and often times ending up more miserable and frustrated than they were prior to having walked through their physician’s doors. We have a problem… and it’s not one that will be quickly or easily solved.
It’s easy to get frustrated and jaded… but I like to take a more optimistic approach. I believe that there is hope for our future! Truly… or else I wouldn’t be here spending countless hours researching and sharing information with you!
On the flip side, I have also seen some serious wins in various advancements in medicine… finding a happy balance between two seemingly opposite sides of the medical spectrum (“modern” vs “natural”). I think there’s a place for both sides to function harmoniously together, and Rarely are interventions a “one size fits all”.
I’m all about real food nutrition, real (Science-based) remedies, fitness, and non-toxic home & beauty… you can count on me to give it to ya’ straight when it comes to what’s happening in healthcare now, and to give you practical solutions for improving your health and wellness naturally and sustainably.
I believe that with the right tools, information, and education ANYONE can be empowered to make positive choices for their health… spread the word, and eventually we can change the world we live in for the better!
My Personal Commitment
When I graduated from nursing school, we all recited the Florence Nightingale’s Nurse’s Pledge (which is a modified “Hippocratic Oath” written in 1893 for nurses, with a nod to Florence Nightingale who is known as the founder of modern nursing). This is what I said, and what is my personal commitment to those I serve (including YOU!)…
I solemnly pledge myself before God and in the presence of this assembly, to pass my life in purity and to practice my profession faithfully. I will abstain from whatever is deleterious and mischievous, and will not take or knowingly administer any harmful drug. I will do all in my power to maintain and elevate the standard of my profession, and will hold in confidence all personal matters committed to my keeping and all family affairs coming to my knowledge in the practice of my calling. With loyalty will I endeavor to aid the physician in his work, and devote myself to the welfare of those committed to my care.
I did not take the reciting of this pledge lightly then, and I continue to hold myself to this standard and commitment today. This goes for all of the patients I serve in the hospital as well as those of you who are served through this website with information and encouragement for healthy living. I hold myself to a very high standard in this regard, and do not share things with you on this site that I have not extensively researched and feel confident to be solid in evidence and practice and will be beneficial to share with you. I appreciate you being here and reading. I hope that you will find the information shared here valuable for living life well. 🙂
